United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa held separate meetings with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday to address pressing Gulf security concerns. The high-level talks come amid heightened regional tensions following recent attacks on civilian infrastructure.
During discussions in Abu Dhabi, both leaders condemned acts targeting civilian facilities in the UAE and neighboring areas. 'Such attacks represent a clear violation of international law and threaten the foundations of regional stability,' stated the UAE President through the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Prime Minister Starmer reaffirmed the UK's commitment to Gulf security, stating: 'Britain stands firmly with its partners in upholding sovereignty and combating threats to peaceful development.' The meetings also explored enhanced cooperation in maritime security and intelligence sharing.
Analysts suggest these talks signal growing international coordination to address security challenges in critical Middle Eastern trade corridors ahead of the 2026 G20 summit preparations.
