Four Children Killed in Kampala Nursery School Attack

Ugandan police confirmed on Thursday, April 2, 2026, that four children were fatally stabbed at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program School in Kampala. The suspect, identified as Okello Christopher Onyu, was apprehended shortly after the attack.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, Onyu had visited the school two days prior to inquire about enrolling his child. After paying the admission fee, he allegedly began attacking toddlers with a weapon. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the violence, which has shocked the local community.

This incident highlights growing concerns about school safety in urban centers across Africa. Ugandan officials have pledged to review security protocols for educational institutions, with a focus on early childhood facilities.
