Iran’s President Stresses People-to-People Solidarity Amid Rising US Tensions

In a rare diplomatic overture, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian asserted on Wednesday that Iranians maintain no hostility toward American citizens, while sharply criticizing Washington's alignment with Israel in regional conflicts. The remarks came through an open letter addressing escalating military tensions between the nations.

Government Actions vs Public Sentiment

"The Iranian people harbor no enmity toward other nations, including the people of America, Europe, or neighboring countries," Pezeshkian wrote, emphasizing Tehran's historical distinction between foreign policies and civilian populations. This statement follows February's deadly joint US-Israel strikes that killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and triggered retaliatory Iranian attacks across the Middle East.

Regional Security Concerns

The president condemned Washington's military infrastructure encircling Iran, stating that recent US "aggressions" from regional bases demonstrate the tangible security threat posed by foreign troop deployments. He specifically referenced President Donald Trump's recent threats of imminent large-scale strikes on Iranian energy facilities as potential war crimes targeting civilian infrastructure.

Diplomatic Crossroads

Positioning current tensions as a global turning point, Pezeshkian accused Israel of manipulating US foreign policy to serve "illegitimate interests," claiming Jerusalem seeks to fight Iran "to the last American soldier and taxpayer dollar." The letter concludes with an urgent call for dialogue over confrontation, framing the conflict as detrimental to regional stability.
