Iran Condemns Israeli Strike Killing Journalists in Lebanon

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi denounced Israel's killing of three journalists in southern Lebanon on March 28, 2026, calling the act a "targeted assassination" and a "violation of international law." The incident has intensified regional tensions and drawn scrutiny over press safety in conflict zones.

Lebanese authorities confirmed that an Israeli air strike destroyed a vehicle in Jezzine at noon on Saturday, killing four individuals. Among the victims were Al-Manar correspondent Ali Shoaib, Al-Mayadeen reporter Fatima Ftouni, and cameraman Mohammad Ftouni. Israel claimed Shoaib was a member of Hezbollah's Radwan Force intelligence unit operating under journalistic cover but provided no verifiable evidence to support the allegation.

The strike has sparked condemnation from media advocacy groups, with calls for independent investigations into the targeting of press personnel. Analysts note the incident could further strain Israel-Lebanon relations, already fragile due to recent cross-border skirmishes.
