China and Vietnam Launch Pioneering ‘3+3’ Strategic Dialogue in Hanoi

China and Vietnam took a significant step in bilateral cooperation this week with the inaugural ministerial meeting of their "3+3" strategic dialogue in Hanoi. The groundbreaking platform, focusing on diplomacy, defense, and public security, marks the first such tripartite ministerial mechanism established globally between two nations.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi joined Defense Minister Dong Jun and Public Security Minister Wang Xiaohong in leading discussions with their Vietnamese counterparts. The dialogue addressed critical issues including international security challenges, political system safeguards, and enhanced law enforcement coordination.

Wang Yi emphasized the dialogue's dual role in advancing the China-Vietnam community with a shared future while contributing to global socialist development. "This mechanism demonstrates our commitment to political system security and strategic coordination," he stated, highlighting its potential to showcase socialist governance advantages in addressing modern challenges.

Key outcomes included agreements to strengthen cybersecurity collaboration, combat transnational crimes such as online gambling and telecom fraud, and improve maritime security coordination. Public security leaders from both sides pledged to intensify efforts against "color revolutions" while expanding joint law enforcement operations.

The meeting concluded with commitments to regularize the dialogue format, positioning it as a model for socialist country cooperation in an era of geopolitical uncertainty.
