Israel Declares Iran Conflict in ‘Decisive Phase’ as Strikes Escalate

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on March 14, 2026, that military operations against Iran have entered a "decisive phase," following coordinated strikes targeting the U.S. embassy in Baghdad and critical energy infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates. The escalation marks a dangerous turning point in the three-week conflict that began with joint U.S.-Israel operations on February 28.

Black smoke engulfed Washington's embassy compound in Iraq for the second time this month, while explosions at Fujairah's oil terminal – a vital hub for Emirati energy exports – followed warnings from Iranian forces to UAE civilians. The UN Refugee Agency reports over 1.2 million displaced persons across the region, with casualties surpassing 1,200 in Iran alone.

"This phase will last as long as necessary to achieve our strategic objectives," Katz stated during a security briefing with military leaders. Analysts warn the conflict's economic repercussions are intensifying, with oil prices surging 18% since hostilities began and shipping disruptions affecting 30% of regional trade routes.
