Tensions Escalate as Clashes Intensify Along Lebanon-Israel Border

Intense clashes erupted along the Lebanon-Israel border on March 10, 2026, as Israeli forces advanced toward multiple towns and villages in southern Lebanon. Security sources reported that the Israeli military, supported by Merkava tanks and armored vehicles, attempted to push toward Khiam, Aitaroun, and other border areas in early morning operations. Hezbollah members engaged Israeli troops, triggering prolonged firefights that lasted until dawn.

According to military sources, Israeli forces established new positions 1-2.5 km from the Blue Line demarcating the border. Hezbollah claimed to have ambushed Israeli units, destroying three tanks and targeting soldiers in Khanouq, Kahil Hill, and Markaba. The group also announced rocket strikes on Israeli bases near Tel Aviv, Safed, and Haifa, marking a significant escalation since its March 2 rocket launches—the first since a November 2024 ceasefire.

While Israel has conducted periodic strikes in Lebanon since the 2024 truce, its current "offensive military campaign" includes intensified airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs and southern Lebanon. Analysts warn the renewed hostilities risk destabilizing regional security amid fragile diplomatic conditions.
