Senegal Lifts Mandatory Vaccination Certificates for Travelers

Senegal has eliminated its requirement for international travelers to present vaccination certificates upon entry, effective immediately as of March 10, 2026. The policy shift, announced this week by the Senegalese Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, marks a significant easing of COVID-19-era health protocols.

New Health Guidelines

While vaccination against yellow fever, measles, hepatitis A/B, and DPT (diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus) remains recommended for visitors from regions without active epidemics, proof of immunization is no longer mandatory. Health authorities emphasize this decision aligns with improved global disease control measures while maintaining public health safeguards.

The change is expected to streamline travel processes for business professionals, tourists, and diaspora communities visiting West Africa. Analysts predict potential tourism growth, with Senegal positioning itself as a more accessible destination ahead of the 2026 cultural festival season.
