Global Powers Urge Ceasefire as US-Israeli Strikes on Iran Enter Fifth Day

International condemnation has intensified as US-Israeli military operations against Iran enter their fifth day, with global leaders demanding an immediate ceasefire and renewed diplomatic engagement. The strikes, which began on February 28, 2026, have drawn sharp criticism from nations worldwide, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized on March 3 that "the use of force cannot truly resolve the issue," urging an end to hostilities to prevent "grave repercussions." Oman, which previously mediated indirect talks between Tehran and Washington, echoed calls for de-escalation, while Russia warned that continued attacks could spur nuclear proliferation across the region.

India and the UAE reiterated demands for restraint, with New Delhi stressing civilian safety and Abu Dhabi clarifying its neutral stance despite facing over 1,000 Iranian attacks. Spain condemned the strikes as "unjustified" and blocked US access to its military bases, advocating for European "balance and moderation."

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif labeled Israel a "threat to humanity," linking the conflict to regional instability. France and Canada joined the chorus of disapproval, with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney calling for adherence to international law during talks in Sydney.

As diplomatic pressure mounts, analysts warn the crisis could destabilize global energy markets and security frameworks. With no immediate resolution in sight, multilateral organizations face growing demands to mediate dialogue between all parties.
