China Sends Record Delegation to 2026 Winter Paralympics in Italy

China will make history at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Paralympics with its largest-ever overseas delegation, comprising 167 members including 70 athletes set to compete across six sports from March 6-15. This announcement comes as Paralympic teams worldwide finalize preparations for the upcoming Games.

The delegation features 51 male and 19 female amateur athletes, with 62 veterans returning from previous Paralympic competitions. Ranging in age from 18 to 40, these athletes will participate in 71 events spanning Para Alpine skiing, Para biathlon, Para cross-country skiing, Para ice hockey, Para snowboard, and wheelchair curling.

"This will be my second Winter Paralympics journey," said Liu Zixu, the gold medalist who made history at the 2022 Beijing Games. "Through systematic training and technical refinement, I aim to surpass my previous achievements and represent Chinese Paralympic sports at the highest level."

The Milano Cortina Games will see participation from over 600 athletes representing 52 countries and regions, with China's delegation reflecting the nation's growing investment in winter para sports development since hosting the 2022 Winter Paralympics.
