Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton firmly denied any awareness of Jeffrey Epstein's criminal network during a closed-door deposition before the House Oversight Committee this week. Testifying under threat of contempt charges, Clinton stated she "had no idea about their criminal activities" and emphasized she never interacted with Epstein or visited his properties.
The deposition precedes former President Bill Clinton's scheduled testimony on Friday – the first congressional appearance by a former U.S. president in over four decades. Committee Chairman James Comer confirmed both testimonies will be videotaped and transcripts publicly released.
Clinton accused lawmakers of using the investigation to divert attention from current President Donald Trump's documented connections to Epstein, citing "tens of thousands" of Trump-related entries in Epstein's files. Over 3 million pages of Justice Department documents related to Epstein's sex trafficking operations have been released since 2025 under congressional mandate.
Epstein died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. His associate Ghislaine Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.
