Iran Denounces Trump’s ‘Big Lies’ in 2026 SOTU Address

Iran's Foreign Ministry has sharply criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump's recent State of the Union address, labeling his claims about Tehran's nuclear program and regional activities as "big lies." The rebuke comes amid ongoing tensions between the two nations in early 2026.

Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei accused the White House and Israel of orchestrating a "disinformation and misinformation campaign" against Iran in a Wednesday statement on social media platform X. The remarks specifically addressed Trump's allegations about Iran's ballistic missile capabilities and the government's handling of January's civil unrest.

"Professional liars are good at creating the 'illusion of truth,'" Baqaei wrote, dismissing U.S. claims as part of a coordinated effort to distort international perceptions. The spokesperson warned that repeating falsehoods "a thousand times" does not make them factual, directly challenging the credibility of Western narratives.

The exchange highlights continuing friction in Iran-U.S. relations, particularly regarding nuclear negotiations and regional security dynamics. Analysts suggest the public denouncement could impact ongoing diplomatic efforts in the Middle East this year.
