Chinese snooker sensation Chang Bingyu delivered a career-defining performance at the 2026 Welsh Open, defeating former world champion Shaun Murphy 4-0 with four consecutive century breaks. The 23-year-old from Qinghai Province achieved this feat in Llandudno on February 24, becoming only the ninth player in snooker history to accomplish such a frame-by-frame dominance.
Chang's breaks of 130, 136, 119, and 130 left spectators and analysts in awe. Twelve-time women's world champion Reanne Evans, commentating for BBC Sport, called it "fantastic" and "the best performance in a best-of-seven match I've ever seen." Murphy himself praised the rising star: "If that were Ronnie O'Sullivan or Judd Trump, it would be on the news."
The victory highlights China's growing snooker prowess, with Xiao Guodong, Zhao Xintong, Zhou Yuelong, and Zhang Anda also advancing in the tournament. Chang will next face Wales' Jackson Page on February 26.
