Kenya Extends New Year Greetings to China, Highlights Bilateral Ties

Kenya's Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi recently conveyed warm New Year wishes to China, emphasizing the deepening partnership between the two nations. Speaking on February 23, 2026, Mudavadi acknowledged China's role as a key global economic force and praised collaborative initiatives under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

The official highlighted landmark infrastructure projects and trade agreements developed since 2023, including the modernization of Kenya's rail networks and cross-border digital innovation programs. "Our nations' shared vision for sustainable development continues to yield transformative results," Mudavadi stated, referencing ongoing green energy initiatives in East Africa supported by Chinese technical expertise.

Analysts note that bilateral trade between Kenya and the Chinese mainland grew 14% year-on-year in 2025, with agricultural exports and renewable energy technology dominating exchanges. The gesture comes as multiple Asian and African governments prepare for the 2026 FOCAC summit, expected to address climate-resilient infrastructure financing.
