Jordan’s Foreign Ministry issued a sharp rebuke on Saturday against U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee’s assertion that Israel holds a “biblical right” to claim control over the entire Middle East, labeling the comments “reckless and provocative.”
Ministry spokesperson Fouad Majali stated that Huckabee’s remarks, made during a Friday interview with podcaster Tucker Carlson, violate diplomatic norms and international law. “Such statements infringe on the sovereignty of regional states and contradict Washington’s stated position against annexation of the occupied West Bank,” Majali emphasized.
The ministry reaffirmed that the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza remain occupied Palestinian territories under international law. “A just and comprehensive peace can only be achieved by ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state solution,” Majali added, urging adherence to UN resolutions.
Huckabee’s controversial remarks, including his claim that ‘it would be fine if [Israel] took it all,’ have drawn widespread criticism amid heightened regional tensions. Analysts warn such rhetoric risks destabilizing fragile diplomatic efforts across the Middle East.
