Hezbollah Commander Killed in Israeli Airstrikes on Eastern Lebanon

Israeli airstrikes targeted eastern Lebanon's Bekaa Valley on Friday, killing at least six people including Hezbollah commander Hussein Yaghi and injuring 25 others, according to Lebanon's National News Agency. Security sources confirmed the casualties as civil defense teams continue searching for survivors under rubble.

The Israel Defense Forces stated it struck Hezbollah command centers in Baalbek, claiming the sites were used to coordinate attacks against Israeli troops. Lebanese authorities reported six separate strikes on residential areas and militant positions, with ambulances rushing victims to local hospitals.

Cross-border tensions between Hezbollah and Israel have persisted since the 2023 Gaza conflict, despite a ceasefire effective since November 27, 2024. Israel maintains its recent operations target "imminent threats," while Hezbollah has yet to publicly address Friday's incident.

Analysts warn the escalation underscores fragile regional stability, with the Bekaa Valley strike marking one of the deepest Israeli incursions into Lebanese territory this year.
