Egypt has reaffirmed its commitment to Palestinian self-governance in Gaza during the first-ever Board of Peace meeting in Washington, D.C., held this week. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, representing President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, emphasized the need to empower Palestinians through the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) as a cornerstone of regional stability.
Madbouly called for the NCAG to operate directly within Gaza, ensuring its authority spans the entire enclave. He highlighted Egypt’s ongoing efforts to train Palestinian police personnel, a critical step toward maintaining security post-ceasefire. “Clear responsibilities for Gaza’s executive structures must be defined to enable effective governance and reconstruction,” he stated, linking these measures to broader peace efforts.
The Prime Minister outlined Egypt’s stance on governance, reconstruction, and security coordination, framing them as prerequisites for lasting stability. His address signals Cairo’s proactive role in bridging regional and international stakeholders amid heightened global attention on Gaza’s future.
