Plane Skids into Mogadishu Shoreline; All Passengers Safe

A Fokker 50 aircraft made an emergency landing in shallow waters off the coast of Mogadishu yesterday, February 10, after experiencing technical issues shortly after takeoff. The plane, which departed from Aden Adde International Airport, was forced to return due to an unspecified malfunction but skidded off the runway during its attempted landing, coming to rest in knee-deep water near a public beach.

Local authorities confirmed all passengers and crew evacuated safely, with no reported injuries. Emergency responders swiftly secured the area, while aviation experts began preliminary investigations into the cause of the incident. The aircraft remains partially submerged as recovery operations continue.

This marks the second aviation incident in Somalia this year, raising questions about maintenance protocols and infrastructure challenges in the region. Analysts suggest the event may prompt renewed discussions about international partnerships to enhance air safety standards across East Africa.
