Iranian Security Chief Ali Larijani Heads to Oman Amid Nuclear Diplomacy Push

Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani will arrive in Muscat on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, for high-level talks with Omani officials, according to SNSC-affiliated Nour News. The visit follows Oman's successful mediation of indirect nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington earlier this week.

Larijani's delegation aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation and address regional security challenges, building on Oman's role as a trusted intermediary. The February 6 talks marked the first direct engagement between Iranian and U.S. envoys in 2026, though both sides communicated through Omani mediators.

At a February 8 press briefing, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi confirmed Muscat remains a leading candidate to host future negotiations. Analysts suggest Larijani's visit could finalize arrangements for additional dialogue aimed at stabilizing energy markets and reducing Persian Gulf tensions.

Oman's neutral foreign policy continues positioning it as a critical hub for Middle East diplomacy. This week's developments come as global energy firms monitor the Strait of Hormuz, where 30% of seaborne-traded oil passes annually.
