Iran Warns Regional Conflict Could Escalate if War Imposed, Top General Says

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Abdolrahim Mousavi issued a stark warning on Saturday, stating that any attempt to impose war on Iran would trigger widespread conflict across West Asia. The remarks, made during Iran’s national Air Force Day commemorations, emphasized Tehran’s readiness to defend its sovereignty amid heightened tensions with the United States.

General Mousavi asserted that adversaries “are well aware” such actions would lead to their “strategic defeat” while destabilizing the region and inflicting heavy costs on aggressors. He reiterated Iran’s policy of avoiding war initiation but vowed “decisive” responses to threats against national security or territorial integrity.

The warning comes as U.S. military activity in the region continues to draw scrutiny. On Friday, officials from both nations concluded talks in Muscat, Oman, though details remain undisclosed. Analysts suggest the negotiations aimed to address lingering disputes over nuclear agreements and regional security frameworks.

With global energy markets closely monitoring West Asian stability, business leaders and policymakers worldwide are assessing potential ripple effects. The situation holds particular significance for Asian economies reliant on Gulf oil exports and maritime trade routes.
