Chinese Humanoid Robots Shine at Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics

China's cutting-edge robotics took center stage at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics this week, as champion humanoid robots from the inaugural World Humanoid Robot Games demonstrated their capabilities at China Media Group's broadcast studio. The event marks a significant milestone in showcasing China's technological advancements to international audiences.

During their Olympic visit, the robot delegation – winners of 2025 competitions in obstacle racing, football, and scenario-based tests – conducted promotional activities highlighting frontier technologies. Notably, these advanced machines served as interview assistants for journalists, demonstrating practical applications in real-world scenarios through logistics handling and cultural performances.

The 2026 World Humanoid Robot Games, scheduled to be held in Beijing, promises expanded international participation following last year's successful debut. Over 500 robots from 16 countries competed in 2025 at Beijing's innovative 'Panda Eye' stadium, the world's first dedicated football training venue for humanoid robots.

Organized by the People's Government of Beijing Municipality and China Media Group, the growing competition aims to foster global cooperation in robotics development. Next year's event will introduce new challenges including a Humanoid Robot Half Marathon, further pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence and mechanical engineering.
