UAE Urges Diplomacy as U.S.-Iran Nuclear Talks Resume This Week

As tensions escalate in the Middle East, UAE Diplomatic Adviser Anwar Gargash has called for renewed dialogue between Tehran and Washington during a World Governments Summit panel in Dubai. "The region has endured enough calamitous confrontations – we don't need another," Gargash stated on February 3, 2026, emphasizing the urgent need for direct negotiations to stabilize regional security.

This appeal comes as U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi prepare to resume nuclear talks this Friday, February 6, in Istanbul. The discussions aim to revive the stalled nuclear agreement and address concerns about potential military escalation, with regional powers including Saudi Arabia and Egypt expected to participate.

While details of the negotiation framework remain undisclosed, analysts suggest the talks could determine short-term stability in Gulf energy markets and global trade routes. The UAE's proactive stance reflects growing regional unease about economic repercussions should diplomacy fail.
