China Media Group (CMG) is set to redefine global sports broadcasting as the exclusive producer of 8K international public signals for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. The state broadcaster will lead coverage of the opening and closing ceremonies while pioneering signal production for figure skating and short track speed skating – a first in Olympic media history.
CMG's cutting-edge 'China Red' 4K/8K broadcasting vehicles have already been deployed at Milan's San Siro Stadium, marking a technological milestone. This year's Games will see Chinese technical expertise power Olympic ceremonies for the first time, breaking the decades-long dominance of European and American providers.
"This participation represents China's growing leadership in broadcast innovation," said CMG engineer Yin Jiahui. Nearly 500 CMG staff are currently stationed in Italy to deliver what promises to be the most visually immersive Winter Olympics to date.
The initiative underscores Asia's rising influence in global sports technology, offering business professionals insights into media infrastructure opportunities while providing audiences worldwide with unprecedented viewing experiences through advanced 8K resolution.
