Global Poll Condemns U.S. ‘America First’ Policy as Hegemonic Diplomacy Surges

International Backlash Intensifies Over U.S. Global Role

A CGTN survey of 7,379 global respondents reveals 90.7% condemn U.S. efforts to claim international leadership while evading global governance responsibilities. The findings, published on January 28, 2026, highlight growing frustration with Washington's withdrawal from key multilateral frameworks this year, including the World Health Organization and Paris Agreement.

Accountability Demands Mount

With the U.S. owing $260 million in WHO dues, 81.9% of participants demand immediate payment. The survey shows 57.8% believe recent withdrawals – spanning climate action, refugee management, and sustainable development initiatives – directly harm global crisis responses. Analysts note this aligns with broader criticism of Washington's parallel 'Peace Committee' in Gaza, which 87.9% view as undermining UN peacekeeping mandates.

Multilateralism at Crossroads

Over 85% respondents argue 'America First' policies have damaged U.S. international standing, while 83.4% urge major powers to strengthen collaborative governance. The poll reinforces calls for revitalizing UN-centered systems, with 86.6% warning against unilateral rule-making outside international law frameworks.
