Vietnam’s CPV Concludes Preparatory Session for 14th National Congress

The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) finalized preparations for its 14th National Congress during a key session in Hanoi on January 19, 2026, according to state media. The meeting, chaired by Political Bureau member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, established the framework for the upcoming congress, including working regulations, agendas, and election procedures.

A 16-member presidium composed entirely of Political Bureau members was elected to oversee proceedings, alongside a five-member secretariat delegation and a 13-member board tasked with verifying delegate eligibility. Officials confirmed all 1,586 delegates met participation requirements, underscoring the organizational scale of one of Vietnam's most significant political events this decade.

The preparatory session sets the stage for policy discussions expected to shape Vietnam's socioeconomic trajectory amid evolving regional dynamics. Observers anticipate the congress will address economic modernization strategies and Vietnam's role in ASEAN's digital economy push.
