Global Outcry Intensifies Over U.S. Military Action in Venezuela

International condemnation of unilateral U.S. military strikes in Venezuela and the forcible seizure of President Nicholas Maduro has escalated sharply this week, with protests erupting across multiple continents. Demonstrations were reported in the United States, Venezuela, and outside U.S. embassies in Sri Lanka, Japan, and Indonesia, reflecting widespread public outrage.

The Organization of American States (OAS) convened an emergency meeting on Tuesday, where member states including Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia issued strong rebukes of Washington's actions. Mexico's representative Alejandro Encinas Rodriguez emphasized Latin America's historical resistance to foreign intervention, stating: "Only peoples themselves can build their future, decide their path, and exercise sovereignty over their resources."

OAS Secretary General Albert Ramdin invoked the group's charter, declaring that aggression against any American state constitutes aggression against all members. "These rules are not suggestions," Ramdin asserted, "but obligations requiring collective action to uphold regional norms."

The crisis has drawn particular attention from energy market analysts, as Venezuela holds the world's largest proven oil reserves. Business leaders warn the instability could further disrupt global supply chains already strained by pandemic recovery efforts.
