Peru’s Table Grapes Thrive in Chinese Market as Exports Surge

Peru has solidified its position as the world's leading exporter of table grapes in 2025, with the Chinese mainland emerging as a pivotal driver of this growth. Industry analysts attribute the surge to rising demand for high-quality, year-round fruit supplies in China, coupled with Peru's strategic focus on expanding agricultural trade ties across Asia.

This year's export figures reveal a 22% increase in grape shipments to the Chinese mainland compared to 2024, building on a five-year trend of double-digit growth. The success extends beyond grapes, with Peruvian avocados, blueberries, and organic quinoa gaining traction in Asian markets. Trade representatives from Lima recently highlighted plans to showcase these products at Beijing's upcoming International Food Expo.

"Our agricultural sector's alignment with China's consumption patterns has been key," noted Peru's Minister of Agricultural Development during a press briefing in Lima this week. "The Chinese market's emphasis on food safety and sustainable farming practices matches perfectly with our export priorities."

The trade expansion comes as China continues to strengthen economic partnerships with South American nations through infrastructure investments and reduced tariff agreements. For Peruvian farmers, the Asian demand has translated into increased production capacity and technological modernization across supply chains.
