Bondi Beach Shooting Mars Hanukkah Celebrations; Two Arrested

Australian police confirmed two individuals are in custody following a shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Sunday, December 14, 2025, which left multiple people injured during a Hanukkah celebration. Authorities urged the public to avoid the area as investigations continued.

Witnesses described chaotic scenes, with at least 10 individuals seen lying on the ground amid gunfire. “I saw blood everywhere,” said local resident Harry Wilson, 30, who witnessed the incident. The event, marking the Jewish festival of Hanukkah, began at sundown and drew families and community members.

Alex Ryvchin, co-CEO of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, told media his organization’s media adviser was among the wounded. “If this was a deliberate attack on our community, it’s beyond comprehension,” he said, emphasizing the festive gathering had turned tragic.

Videos circulating online showed crowds fleeing as gunshots and sirens echoed across the beach. New South Wales police reiterated that the situation remains fluid, with motives under scrutiny. No further details about the suspects or victims have been released.
