Vietnam has suffered economic losses totaling $3.86 billion in 2025 due to an unprecedented wave of natural disasters, according to official data released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. The country recorded 21 storms and tropical depressions through November – surpassing its previous annual record set in 2017.

State media reports confirm 409 fatalities and missing persons this year, with central provinces bearing the brunt of flash floods and landslides. Authorities warn of continued risks as meteorological forecasts predict additional heavy rainfall through December.
