Deadly Blast Rocks Kashmir Police Station: 9 Killed, 29 Injured

Explosion Linked to Delhi Car Bomb Probe Sparks Chaos in Srinagar

A massive explosion at the Nowgam police station in Indian-controlled Kashmir late Friday night killed nine people and injured 29 others, with officials warning the death toll could rise. The blast, which occurred as forensic teams examined explosives tied to a recent car bombing in Delhi, triggered a fire that engulfed the building and nearby vehicles.

Local media reports indicate most victims were police officers and forensic personnel handling materials from the 10 November Delhi incident, which claimed 13 lives. Video footage showed flames and thick smoke billowing from the Srinagar facility as firefighters and ambulances rushed to the scene.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement about the cause of the explosion, which marks the second major security incident in India this week. The tragedy has reignited debates about explosive material handling protocols in ongoing terror investigations.
