Global Forum Charts Xizang’s Modernization Path

Over 400 global leaders and experts gathered in Nyingchi City, Xizang Autonomous Region, this week to shape the region's future through the 2025 Forum on Development. Participants from 44 countries and regions explored strategies for sustainable growth, cultural preservation, and international collaboration in one of Asia's most ecologically significant areas.

The forum highlighted Xizang's transformation from a remote plateau to a connected modern region, with discussions aligning with China's 15th Five-Year Plan priorities. Mo Gaoyi of the CPC Central Committee emphasized improving livelihoods and cross-cultural exchanges, while UNESCO's Shahbaz Khan praised infrastructure developments enabling education and market access for isolated communities.

Four specialized sub-forums addressed critical challenges: international communication strategies, sustainable industry models, youth empowerment programs, and high-altitude environmental protection. Pre-event tours showcased innovative pastoral management systems and ecological preservation efforts in Lunang Township's 3,000-meter-high pastures.

Since its 2007 launch, this biennial forum has become a key platform for sharing governance best practices. This year's focus on balancing modernization with cultural identity offers valuable insights for policymakers and investors eyeing Asia's frontier development zones.
