Israel Asserts Control Over Gaza Security Amid Ceasefire Deal

Israel reaffirmed its authority over security operations in Gaza on Sunday, even as it accepted a U.S.-mediated ceasefire agreement that includes plans for an international security force. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized Israel's unilateral decision-making power during a cabinet meeting, stating: "We control our security. We will defend ourselves by our own means."

The announcement followed the arrival of an Egyptian technical convoy in Gaza, approved by Netanyahu, to assist in locating the remains of Israeli hostages reportedly buried under rubble. Footage showed Egyptian-flagged vehicles transporting bulldozers and excavation equipment to Al-Zawayda, where search operations will be conducted under non-military supervision.

Israeli government spokesperson Shosh Bedrosian clarified: "This is a technical team only, operating beyond IDF positions with strict limitations." The development highlights ongoing tensions between ceasefire implementation and Israel's insistence on maintaining operational autonomy in conflict zones.
