Israeli Evacuation Order Sparks Panic in Gaza City

The Israeli military's sudden evacuation order for Gaza City residents has triggered widespread panic, with nearly 1 million people urged to flee southward ahead of an expanded offensive. Military spokesman Avichay Adraee warned of "great force" in the area, directing civilians to Al-Mawasi—a coastal zone Israel designates as a humanitarian area—amid ongoing bombardment that has reduced entire neighborhoods to rubble.

Residents described impossible choices as Gaza's health ministry announced plans to evacuate Al Shifa and Al Ahli hospitals. "There's no safe place left," said Um Mohammad, 55, who decided to join her daughter after days of resisting displacement. Many others remain trapped, with no visible mass exodus observed as of Tuesday.

Humanitarian Crisis Deepens

The order comes amid worsening famine conditions and international condemnation. Gaza's health ministry reports over 64,000 Palestinian deaths since hostilities began in October 2023, with nearly all 2.2 million residents displaced. A UN-backed hunger monitor confirms famine in multiple areas.

Diplomatic Tensions Rise

European nations plan to recognize Palestinian statehood at this month's UN General Assembly, drawing opposition from Israel and the U.S. Meanwhile, a humanitarian flotilla including Swedish activist Greta Thunberg reported a drone strike on one vessel in Tunisia, though no casualties occurred.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz vowed to continue operations until Hamas releases remaining hostages and disarms, while the militant group maintains it will only negotiate alongside discussions for Palestinian statehood. With 40% of Gaza City already under Israeli control, analysts warn the conflict risks further regional destabilization.
