ABU DHABI – China Media Group (CMG) and the Chinese Embassy in the United Arab Emirates co-hosted the cultural exchange event 'Echoes of Peace' on Thursday, blending historical reflection with modern diplomacy. The gathering brought together diplomats, media representatives, and scholars to emphasize shared commitments to global stability.
CMG President Shen Haixiong, speaking via video, connected the event to this year's 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. 'History remains our essential guide,' Shen stated, underscoring the need to 'safeguard peace through remembrance' while announcing plans for enhanced international media collaboration through innovative storytelling formats.
Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yiming highlighted contemporary challenges during his address: 'As some nations engage in selective application of international rules, we must collectively uphold the UN-centered global order.' He revealed China's intention to leverage its SCO 'Year of China' status to strengthen multilateral cooperation with partners like the UAE.
The event attracted Middle Eastern thought leaders including Mohamed Firas Alnaeb of Dubai's Strategia Center for Studies, who praised China and the UAE as 'architects of postwar peace and development.' Cultural programming featured CMG-produced films and documentaries emphasizing peacebuilding themes, merging artistic expression with diplomatic messaging.
