4 Killed in Bangkok Market Shooting; Gunman Dies by Suicide

Four security guards were killed and two others injured in a mass shooting at Bangkok's bustling Or Tor Kor market on Monday, authorities confirmed. The gunman died by suicide shortly after the attack, according to police.

Deputy Police Chief Worapat Sukthai of Bangkok's Bang Sue district described the incident as a "mass shooting" and stated investigators are working to determine the motive. The market, renowned for its fresh produce and popularity among locals and tourists, was evacuated as emergency responders arrived.

Or Tor Kor, a government-run market near Chatuchak Park, is a key hub for Thailand's agricultural trade and a frequent stop for culinary enthusiasts. The shooting has raised concerns about public safety in commercial areas ahead of Thailand's peak tourism season.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims or the shooter. The incident marks one of the deadliest public shootings in Bangkok since the 2020 mall attack in Nakhon Ratchasima.
