Chinese peacekeepers and medical personnel have extended a lifeline to vulnerable children in South Sudan, delivering critical supplies to the Confident Children out of Conflict (CCC) Orphanage in Juba. The 12th batch of China's medical team, alongside the 11th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion, coordinated Friday's donation drive, which included milk powder, mosquito nets, educational materials, and daily necessities.
Captain Li Wei, a spokesperson for the medical team, emphasized the initiative's focus on addressing malnutrition and improving living conditions. "These children represent South Sudan's future," Li stated. "Stable access to essentials is the first step toward rebuilding hope."
The donation aligns with China's expanding role in African humanitarian projects, which have prioritized healthcare and education infrastructure in conflict-affected regions. Analysts note such efforts complement Beijing's broader peacekeeping commitments under UN frameworks.
Local staff at CCC praised the collaboration, noting the supplies arrived ahead of seasonal rains that typically exacerbate health risks. South Sudan continues to grapple with displacement and resource shortages amid sporadic instability.
