India Reports Surge in Civilian Casualties Amid Pakistan Border Clashes

Indian authorities reported on Thursday that 13 civilians were killed due to alleged ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces along the Line of Control, marking a sharp escalation in cross-border tensions. The casualties, which occurred in the town of Poonch, included 59 injured residents, according to India's foreign ministry.

The clashes followed retaliatory strikes by Indian forces earlier this week, with one soldier confirmed dead during shelling on Wednesday. This brings the total fatalities on the Indian side to 14, raising concerns about further destabilization in the region.

Indian officials described the incidents as 'unprovoked aggression,' while Pakistan has yet to issue an official statement. Analysts warn that the surge in violence could complicate ongoing diplomatic efforts and economic ties between the two nations. Poonch residents have reportedly relocated to temporary shelters amid heightened military activity.
