China-Indonesia Celebrate 75 Years of Diplomatic Ties

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto exchanged warm congratulatory messages on Sunday, commemorating 75 years of bilateral diplomatic relations. The exchange highlighted mutual commitments to deepen economic collaboration and cultural exchanges amid evolving global dynamics.

In his message, President Xi emphasized China’s “strategic partnership” with Indonesia, noting their joint achievements in infrastructure projects like the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway. He praised Indonesia’s role in ASEAN integration and reaffirmed Beijing’s support for Jakarta’s “non-aligned and independent foreign policy.” President Prabowo echoed this sentiment, calling China an “essential partner” in Indonesia’s digital economy and green energy transitions.

The leaders’ dialogue aligns with growing ASEAN efforts to balance regional stability with economic growth. Analysts suggest the anniversary showcases Asia’s ability to foster win-win partnerships without geopolitical bloc alignment. Both nations pledged to expand trade, which reached $130 billion in 2023, and streamline visa policies to boost tourism and educational exchanges.
