Houthis Claim Tel Aviv Drone Strikes Amid Rising Tensions

Yemen's Houthi group announced Friday it conducted drone attacks targeting Tel Aviv, escalating regional tensions amid ongoing clashes with U.S. forces in the Red Sea. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea stated the operation aimed at Israeli military sites was carried out in solidarity with Palestinians, while vowing continued resistance against American airstrikes in Yemen.

Israeli media reported a drone was intercepted near Jordan's Dead Sea region, with the Jordanian army confirming an unidentified aircraft crashed in Madaba governorate without casualties. This follows repeated Houthi strikes on Israeli and U.S. targets since March, when Israel intensified military operations in Gaza.

Separately, Yemeni media reported 30 U.S. airstrikes hit northern Yemen on Friday, targeting areas around Sanaa, Marib, and Hodeidah. Residents described sudden explosions without warning systems, highlighting the conflict's humanitarian toll. The U.S. Central Command dismissed Houthi claims about attacks on the USS Harry S. Truman as false, asserting continued operations against the group.

Analysts note the cycle of strikes reflects deepening regional instability, with the Houthis demanding an end to Israel's Gaza offensive as a precondition for peace. As global shipping lanes remain vulnerable and diplomatic efforts stall, the situation underscores the interconnected security challenges across West Asia.
