U.S. Airstrikes in Yemen Kill 4, Injure 23 Amid Escalating Tensions

Latest Casualties Reported in Sanaa

U.S. airstrikes targeting Yemen's capital Sanaa on Sunday killed at least four people and injured 23 others, according to local medical sources. Among the casualties were two men, two women, and 11 women and children wounded during strikes on the densely populated Shu'ub district. Rescue teams continued search operations for survivors amid damaged residential buildings.

Expanding Military Campaign

The strikes followed earlier reports of U.S. military action in Houthi-controlled western provinces, including Kamaran Island in the Red Sea, as part of a renewed campaign launched on March 15. The U.S. has stated the operations aim to degrade Houthi capabilities, targeting air defense systems and weapons storage sites.

Houthi Response and Regional Impact

The Houthi movement, which governs northern Yemen and Sanaa, reiterated vows to continue maritime attacks on Israeli-linked vessels, citing Israel's restrictions on Gaza aid. The group's Al-Masirah TV reported additional strikes in Bani Matar district, though no casualties were confirmed there. Analysts warn the escalation risks further destabilizing critical Red Sea trade routes.
