Brazil-China Ties in Focus at 2025 Two Sessions

As China prepares for its 2025 Two Sessions—the annual meetings of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference—analysts worldwide are anticipating insights into the nation's economic priorities and foreign policy strategies. Luiz Augusto de Castro Neves, President of the Brazil-China Business Council (CEBC), shared his perspectives on the deepening ties between Brazil and China in an interview with CGTN's Lucrecia Franco.

Neves emphasized the complementary nature of the two economies, noting that Brazil’s agricultural exports and China’s technological advancements create a “win-win partnership.” He highlighted projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly infrastructure investments in Brazilian ports and energy networks, as key drivers of bilateral growth. “The Two Sessions will likely reaffirm China’s commitment to global cooperation, which is crucial for emerging markets like Brazil,” Neves said.

With China being Brazil’s largest trading partner since 2009, Neves pointed to new opportunities in sustainable development, including collaborations on renewable energy and green finance. Analysts suggest the 2025 policy discussions may signal further liberalization of trade frameworks, benefiting agribusiness and tech sectors in both nations.

The Two Sessions, expected to outline China’s 2025 economic targets, are being closely monitored by international investors and policymakers. For Brazil, Neves stressed, “understanding China’s domestic priorities is essential to aligning our strategies in a rapidly evolving global economy.”
