Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro is facing formal charges for attempting a coup following his election loss in 2022. The country’s prosecutor-general announced an indictment against Bolsonaro and 33 other individuals on Tuesday, Feb. 18, outlining a range of other alleged crimes.
Bolsonaro was previously convicted of abusing his power and casting doubt on the country’s election system, which bars him from running for public office until 2030.
