Tokyo, Japan — A hammer attack at Hosei University’s Tama Campus in Tokyo on Friday afternoon left at least eight people injured, according to Japanese media reports.
Public broadcaster NHK reported that all those hurt were conscious, citing police sources. The incident caused alarm on campus as emergency services responded swiftly to the scene.
The suspect, who allegedly wielded the hammer during the attack, was arrested at the scene. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities have yet to release further details about the suspect or the victims. Hosei University officials have expressed concern and are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
