U.S. Congress Officially Certifies Donald Trump’s Election Victory

The United States Congress has formally certified Republican President-elect Donald Trump’s November election victory over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, paving the way for his inauguration on January 20.

The certification took place on Monday during a joint session of the House of Representatives and the Senate in a brief yet significant ceremony. Presiding over the session was Vice President Kamala Harris, who, in her capacity as President of the Senate, oversaw the final affirmation of the Electoral College results.

The official count confirmed that Trump secured 312 Electoral College votes to Harris’s 226, solidifying his position as the next President of the United States. This certification corroborates the preliminary findings announced after the November election.

This ceremony marks a pivotal moment in the U.S. electoral process, formally recognizing the outcomes from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. With the certification complete, preparations are underway for the inauguration ceremony, where Donald Trump will be sworn in as the nation’s leader.
