Jeju Air Pilot Reported Bird Strike Before Fatal Crash

On Sunday, a Jeju Air jet crashed shortly after the pilot reported a bird strike and declared a mayday, as confirmed by a Transport Ministry official during a media briefing on Monday.

The pilot informed air traffic control that the aircraft had suffered a bird strike—a collision between the aircraft and birds that can cause significant damage. Moments after reporting the emergency, the plane tragically crashed.

The Transport Ministry official provided these details but did not offer further information on the number of passengers, casualties, or the location of the crash.

Further updates are anticipated as authorities continue to address the situation.
