The search and rescue teams have recovered the second black box from the plane crash site near Aktau, Kazakh officials confirmed on Thursday, according to Russian media reports. The discovery is expected to shed more light on the tragic incident that occurred on Wednesday morning.

The Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer 190 aircraft, flying from Baku to Grozny, Russia, crashed near the city of Aktau in western Kazakhstan. On board were 62 passengers and five crew members. Kazakhstan’s emergencies ministry reported that 29 individuals survived the crash. The condition of the survivors has not been disclosed.

Law enforcement agencies from Russia and Azerbaijan will participate in the investigation, aiming to determine the cause of the accident. The collaboration underscores the international nature of the flight and the importance of uncovering the factors that led to the tragedy.

The recovery of both black boxes—the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder—provides critical resources for investigators. Analyzing the data will help in understanding the sequence of events leading up to the crash and may reveal any technical or human errors involved.

The aviation community and families of those affected are awaiting further information as the investigation proceeds. Azerbaijan Airlines has not yet released a detailed statement but has expressed condolences to the victims and their families.
