Chinese Ambassador to the U.S., Xie Feng, delivered a video speech at an event hosted by the U.S.-China Business Council (USCBC) on Thursday, November 7, commemorating the 45th anniversary of China-U.S. diplomatic relations.
Addressing a gathering of business leaders, diplomats, and scholars, Ambassador Xie emphasized the importance of the three principles outlined by Chinese President Xi Jinping: mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. He noted that these principles not only summarize the experience of China-U.S. relations over the past decades but also chart the course for future interactions between the two nations.
“China will never become another United States,” Xie remarked. “Differences should be an impetus for exchanges and mutual learning, rather than a pretext for exclusion and confrontation.”
He expressed hope that the U.S. would collaborate with China to steer the bilateral relationship toward stability and sustainability. “We hope the U.S. side will work with China in the same direction, stand on the right side of history, make the right choice in line with the trend of the times and the people’s will, and jointly move the relationship forward along a stable, sound, and sustainable track,” he said.
The USCBC event served as a platform to reflect on the progress made over the past 45 years and to discuss the future of China-U.S. relations. Attendees engaged in dialogues aimed at fostering mutual understanding and exploring opportunities for cooperation.
