Russia and DPRK Foreign Ministers Reaffirm Strategic Partnership in Moscow Talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Choe Son Hui, Foreign Minister of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), held strategic consultations in Moscow on Friday, reaffirming their commitment to fully implement the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This agreement aims to elevate their traditionally friendly relations to a new level, according to a statement released by Russia’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday.

During their meeting, the two ministers exchanged views on key international issues and agreed to continue strategic consultations. They emphasized the importance of ongoing dialogue and exchanges between their foreign ministries at various levels to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The official Korean Central News Agency reported that the discussions included in-depth views on practical matters related to developing bilateral ties. Both sides expressed a common understanding that the root cause of escalating tensions in the Korean Peninsula, Northeast Asia, and other parts of the world lies in the provocations of the United States and its allies.

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement added that Russia expressed full support for the measures taken by the DPRK leadership to deter what they described as the aggressive policies of the United States and its allies, aiming to ensure regional peace and stability.
