Seven Killed as Minibus Plunges into Deep Ditch in Myanmar

In a tragic incident on Monday, a minibus plunged into a deep ditch in Ywangan township of Shan state, Myanmar, resulting in the deaths of seven people and injuring 17 others, according to an official from the Myanmar Rescue Organization (Mandalay).

The accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. as the vehicle navigated the winding roads of the region. Rescue teams faced challenging conditions as they worked tirelessly to assist survivors and recover the victims.

“We conducted rescue operations with ropes and cranes,” the official told Xinhua on Tuesday, highlighting the complexity of the effort due to the depth of the ditch and difficult terrain.

The injured were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, which underscores ongoing concerns about road safety in the area.
