Georgia’s Ruling Georgian Dream Party Leads in Parliamentary Elections with 52.99%

Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream party is leading with 52.99% of the vote in the recent parliamentary elections, according to early results announced by the Central Election Commission on Saturday.

Giorgi Kalandarishvili, chairman of the commission, reported that with data obtained from 2,206 polling stations, Georgian Dream has garnered 935,004 votes.

Among the opposition parties, the Coalition for Change leads with 11.2% of the vote. They are followed by the United National Movement with 9.8%, Strong Georgia with 9.0%, and Gakharia for Georgia with 8.2%.

Kalandarishvili noted that the elections were conducted in a peaceful and free atmosphere. “For the first time, we used special voter verification equipment and can confidently say that the elections were held successfully,” he stated.
